When Charged With a Crime

#bailmeout Fundraiser
Our Firm believes in giving back and helping the people of our San Diego community. As a criminal defense law firm, this usually means assisting those charged with a crime by helping them regain control of their future. This month we are proud to help in a broader sense by launching a fundraiser to support Second Chance . The funds raised will be used to assist in breaking the cycles of incarceration and poverty by helping those recently released from being incarcerated attain, and maintain, self-sufficiency.

Second Chance, a 501(c)(3) charitable tax-exempt organization, partners with the City of San Diego, the San Diego County Office of Education and numerous other local entities to fulfill its mission through providing workplace readiness training and job placement programs for adults and youth. The organization also delivers transitional housing, behavioral health treatment and financial literacy to assist participants in achieving self-sufficiency. Along with many other charities, Second Chance participates in “Giving Tuesday,” which falls on November 27. The theme this year is #bailmeout and includes an event which will feature selected community leaders and elected officials in “jail.” Our Firm’s Founder and Managing Partner, David P. Shapiro, has volunteered to go (back to) “jail” for this great cause.

Please join us in helping those who want to turn their lives around and break the cycles of incarceration and poverty. Donations to Second Chance will help “bail out” David. Our Firm has set a modest fundraising goal of $500, and has pledged to contribute at least $250 of our own money if we are able to hit our $500 goal. And if you know of anyone who might be interested in making a donation, please pass this information on.
