|
We are delighted to announce that the Firm has hired the first Director of Operations in its 11-year existence. Michael S. Duell (pictured here), an executive with more than 25 years of business management experience, joined the Firm earlier this month. Michael will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Firm, including but not limited to its sales, marketing, financial controls, and administrative functions. In this capacity, he will strengthen the Firm’s commitment to providing unsurpassed service to its clients helping them regain control of their future when charged with a crime.
As Director of Operations, Michael's duties include the responsibility for all the firm’s systems, making certain that they continue to run smoothly in the context of a steady increase in the number of clients the Firm represents, as well as expanding upon the Firm’s already strong community outreach. Finally, Mr. Duell will utilize his decades of experience to enhance the internal management of our Firm. This includes not only managing and increasing the effectiveness and productivity of the existing systems of the Firm, but also the Firm’s relationships with its outside vendors, staff allocation and development, and assisting the Firm’s three attorneys (David P. Shapiro, Stefano L. Molea, Ally F. Keegan) wherever necessary.
Our Firm is extremely pleased that Michael has chosen to join us, and we look forward to him playing an integral role in the continued growth and reach of the Firm for years to come.

While most people understand that a “rap sheet” is a criminal history report, most are unaware of either the specific items that may be contained in it, or the purposes for which the rap sheet might be used. In this video, attorney Ally Keegan, along with legal assistant Alyssa Rodriguez, explain rap sheets in detail. The first thing to understand is that a rap sheet contains a lot more than a record of criminal convictions. It will also show arrests, pending cases, violations of probation and/or parole, any expungements, and any situations in which you were fingerprinted, for example, in connection with a new job.
For a variety of reasons, you may want to be proactive and know what is on your rap sheet BEFORE applying for your dream job. Of course, before dealing with the specifics of the criminal history report, you need to know what is actually in it. To obtain a copy, you can go directly to the California Department of Justice or use Live Scan or one of the other providers. Once obtained, a review may disclose that there are inaccuracies in the report. Those inaccuracies could have a negative effect on your job opportunities. An experienced attorney can help you both to understand what’s in the report, and can assist in correcting any inaccurate entries in a timely manner.
It pays to be prepared to deal with any issues regarding your criminal history report. We are here to help! Call us at (619) 295-3555.
